Last Mile

Last Mile

The Öewersauer Nature Park is taking action on mobility in the Éislek, in cooperation with the Our Nature Park. As part of the Interreg Europe programme, the Öewersauer Nature Park is taking part in the “Last Mile” project and so will be working over the next few years to find flexible and sustainable transport solutions for end-consumers, residents and tourists in the Éislek.

The aim of this project is to find flexible transport systems (FTS) that meet the demand of both tourists and residents through exchanges between different regions all over Europe and by assessing the needs in those regions. The focus is on rural regions that are characterized by tourism. This approach aims to promote sustainable transport systems and lead to a reduction in motorized private transport. In addition, this has a positive impact on the independence of people with limited mobility (such as the disabled, the elderly, etc.).

This can even generate positive economic effects for the region, depending on the type of FTS implemented. It’s particularly important to take existing forms of mobility into account when implementing new FTSs, or to include them in future projects.
