Metamorphosis stands for change, transformation, development – Katrin Knape (D) approaches this theme with various textile techniques. Bricks made of wool fibres become walls and surfaces, fabric and paper become facades and landscapes. Felted hollow bodies and surfaces create spaces, separate and create connections to the here and now, to the past, memories, the facades of the big city and the peace of a summer evening by the lake. Things transform before our eyes, merge into something new.
In developing her concept of metamorphosis, Brigitte Stoffel (L) designed and created moving and delicate sculptures that float in space. Tender cocoons are created by weaving and braiding copper wire and carded wool. These contradictory materials twist and intertwine in a fragile balance. Change and transmutation will in turn liberate them so that their development can flourish successfully.
