The history of the Upper Sûre river
This historical project comprises twelve information panels installed around the reservoir and invites residents and visitors to discover and experience the rich history and landscape changes of the Upper Sûre region.
The themes of the panels range from tourism to the construction of the dam wall, landscape changes, electricity production and nature. Each panel deals with a different theme and is illustrated by contemporary documents compiled thanks to the contributions of numerous local residents with an interest in history. This initiative emphasises the major changes that the reservoir has brought to the region and highlights its importance, as it now supplies around 80% of Luxembourg’s households with drinking water.
