The Upper Sûre Nature Park, Luxembourg’s water region, is located in the northwest of Luxembourg. The nature park extends over 230 sq. km and comprises 6 municipalities with a total of over 18,000 inhabitants. The heart of the park is a 3.8-sq. km reservoir, which serves as the country’s drinking water reservoir and recreation area. Visitors can enjoy the nature park in different ways all around the lake: for example, on extensive hikes, some of which also reveal centuries-old secrets of the region, or bike or e-bike tours. The reservoir can easily be explored on a solar-powered boat trip.
But the reservoir itself is not the only reason why the Upper Sûre Nature Park is characterized as a water region. Water is omnipresent in the nature park. The Upper Sûre river and its many tributaries flow through the area and make it a paradise for both flora and fauna as well as for nature and sports enthusiasts looking for peace and recreation in a unique environment.
You will find the Nature Park administration’s office and a sales outlet for regional products in the Nature Park Centre in Esch-sur-Sûre, which once housed a cloth factory. Its weaving and spinning looms can still be put into operation today during guided tours of the museum.
