Wiltz Castle dates back to the 13th century and has been in Renaissance style since the 17th century. But it has more to offer than just its own history. Every summer, the imposing building forms the backdrop for numerous concerts and other cultural events that take place on the amphitheatre’s covered open-air stage, including the renowned “Festival de Wiltz”.
Apart from the tourist information office, the following museums are also located in the castle:
- Museum on the Battle of the Bulge 1944-1945
The main theme is devoted to the terrible events of the Battle of the Bulge, the period from 16 December 1944 to 21 January 1945, the day on which the town of Wiltz was finally liberated.
- National Brewing Museum and Tannery Museum
The brewery museum in what were the castle’s stables gives visitors an insight into the art of brewing, together with its tradition-steeped craft and industrial culture. The tannery museum illustrates the history of the former Wiltz tanneries.
