Many legends are associated with the Sainte Croix chapel (Lochkapelle) in Esch-sur-Sûre, which is located outside the locality on the road to Eschdorf. The Gothic Calvary group (Christ on the Cross with two thieves), carved in real life-size from lime wood inside the chapel, is one of the most important treasures in Luxembourg’s cultural heritage. the lime avenue, which leads to the entrance gate, lends the chapel special charm.
