Digital guide to the Nature Park on trails of 3.5 to 8 km

Discover the history of Esch-sur-Sûre and its lake on a GPS-guided circular tour (7.3 or 3.4 km) and/or the countryside around Bavigne/ Boulaide (8 km). The Nature Park digital guide will guide your way and explain technical, cultural and historical features using of vivid images and animated sequences. But pay attention! Some points on the trail require you to give the right answers to a couple of quiz questions.

Mysterious Esch-sur-Sûre 3 km

Take the audio-guided tour and discover the eerie, haunted world of Esch-sur-Sûre. Get to know the myths and legends, passed down from generation to generation. Starting point and equipment rental: Nature Park Centre, Esch-sur-Sûre (adults € 4, children € 2.50).

Natur Pur?: 7 km, 1.7 km

This themed circular tour shows how the use of natural resources (water, timber, slate) has influenced the landscape and the environment on the Upper Sûre over the last few centuries. Environmental protection and the low-impact use of resources are also explained. An accompanying booklet is also available at the Nature Park Centre in Esch-sur-Sûre, at the starting point and from the surrounding villages. Starting point: Pont Misère between Boulaide and Arsdorf.

Sculpture Trail: 4 km

In summer 1999, six international sculptors fashioned stones on location, adapting them ideally to the landscape around the reservoir. A brochure is available at the Nature Park Centre in Esch-sur-Sûre. Starting point: Car park on the N27, next to Lultzhausen. The trail is marked with the letter "S".

There is a further sculpture trail in Bilsdorf.

The Nature Parks Discovery Guide for Luxembourg

The Nature Parks Discovery Guide presents, for the first time, the highlights of the two Nature Parks Our & Upper Sûre and focusses especially on active experiences. It contains suggestions, both for families and individual tourists, for hiking-, nordic walking-, mountain bike and road cycling routes, and water and cultural activities.
A map of 80 x 80 cm shows a hiking route of several days, crossing the two Nature Parks.
The Nature Parks Discovery Guide is available in German, French and English in the two Nature Park Centres, the tourist offices in the north of Luxembourg and in Luxembourgish book stores for 12,50 €.

On the Trail of Water and Nature

These four themed circular routes vary both in length and in their subject. Different symbols lead you along the corresponding circular trails: Water nymph, Cep mushroom, Mandrake and Court jester. The marks on the posts at the stopping points refer to explanations in the brochure, which is available at the Nature Park Centre in Esch-sur-Sûre (€1).

Sûr(e)-naturel - Cross-border Circular Route of Legends

The Nature Parks of the Upper Sûre (L) and Haute-Sûre Forêt d’Anlier (B) invite visitors to discover the region's charming landscape and cultural heritage at 19 different legend locations. 7 legend locations in Luxembourg and 12 in Belgium form a 150 km circular route. A sculptured panel at each point depicts the legend and forms the starting point for a short walking tour.

A travel guide, CD, leaflet and other information are available at the Nature Park centres in Esch-sur-Sûre and Martelange (D, EN, F, L, NL).

Themed Circular Routes

The Upper Sûre Nature Park region has a varied and rich cultural and architectural heritage embedded in an outstanding rural landscape and waiting to be discovered. The accompanying booklet will help you to find your way to the many religious and historical sites such as churches, chapels and monuments (World War II).

This walking guide to the countryside and culture of the Upper Sûre Nature Park contains 19 detailed descriptions of circular tours together with clear maps that open up the most beautiful landscapes throughout the region of the Upper Sûre. Short chapters are devoted to the flora and fauna along the routes illustrating how the Nature Park constitutes one of the country's most valuable regions from a nature conservation perspective. Available from all good newsagents in Luxembourg or at the Nature Park Centre in Esch-sur-Sûre (D, F; € 15).
